Telangana: KCR's threat comes after transmissions for two local channels were blocked
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday vowed to bury anyone in the media who dared to denigrate his state. "Those who insult Telangana, its existence and prestige, will be buried 10 feet under the earth," he said. These comments were made after an association of cable operators in Telangana decided to block transmissions for two local television channels, ABN Andhra Jyothi and TV 9, which aired programmes "denigrating the sentiment" of the state's people.

Uttar Pradesh: EC sends notice to BJP leader for raising communal tensions
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday continued his attacks against the Muslim community, declaring that “jihad in the name of love is unacceptable” and that if voted to power, his party would “stop forceful conversion of Hindu girls”. In response, the Election Commission on Tuesday sent Adityanath a show cause notice for violating the model code of conduct, ahead of assembly by-polls in Uttar Pradesh on September 13. The EC has sought Adityanath's response to the notice by Wednesday.

West Bengal: Police ask women to dress appropriately to avoid harassment
The Bidhannagar City Police from Kolkata's satellite township of Salt Lake posted guidelines on its website directing women to dress appropriately, behave well and avoid crowded public transport services, to prevent being harassed. Activists from around the state said that instead of doing their job, the police were blaming the victims. The notice was soon withdrawn.

Delhi: AAP leaders ask Najeeb Jung to withdraw invite to BJP
Aam Aadmi Party leaders led by Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday met Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and asked him to withdraw his letter to the President recommending that the Bharatiya Janata Party should be invited to form the government in Delhi. During the meeting, the leaders also presented Jung a video allegedly showing senior BJP leader Sher Singh Dagar offering AAP legislator Dinesh Mohaniya Rs 4 crores to join the saffron party.
